Creativity, Innovation, and the Entrepreneurial Mindset: The Intersection of Liberal Arts and Entrepreneurship
This Learning Community will explore the power of the humanities and liberal arts in driving innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving and success in the 21st century through the lens presented in the book The Entrepreneurial Humanities.
Book: The Entrepreneurial Humanities: The Crucial Role of the Humanities in Enterprise and the Economy (Edited By Alain-Philippe Durand, Christine Henseler), 2023
Format: Bi-weekly meetings throughout the Fall 2024 semester
Learning Objectives:
- Explore the core arguments presented in “The Entrepreneurial Humanities.”
- Examine the contributions of humanities disciplines like literature, history, philosophy, and the arts to innovation and problem-solving in multiple contexts.
- Foster an understanding of entrepreneurship to allow faculty and staff from all disciplines to participate and benefit from the Perricelli-Gegnas Center for E&I.
- Engage in collaborative learning through discussions and group projects.
Meeting Structure:
- Each bi-weekly meeting (1 hour) will focus on a specific chapter(s) or theme from “The Entrepreneurial Humanities.”
- Discussions will be facilitated in turn by designated LC members
- Guest speakers: Invite entrepreneurs, business leaders, or faculty members from various departments to share their experiences and perspectives.
Logistics:
- Meetings will take place in Taylor Hall 208 at 3pm on Tuesdays.
- Light refreshments will be provided at each meeting.
